I have PS2 version 2, smd 2.0 and fliptop, and use nero and use memerox DVD+R discs. So far, I have successfully backed-up:
GTA: VC
Manhunt
True Crimes

Use the wizard in nero to make DVD backups. That's the easy way to go.

True crime works for me v9 wth dms3 chip, burned with nero on no name dvd-rs. Im have problems with Midnight club 2 not booting up just stays on black screen. also Simpsons hit and run orginal wont even boot on my ps2 without disableing my chip, so i havent even try buring that yet. Anyone have any problems with either of these 2? thanks JIm

How did you guys get Hot Wheels World Race to work? I have had no success with both World Race and Speed Kings. I have only backed up about 7 games so far, and these are the only two CD-based games that I have tried to back up. Both have given me problems. They will boot up with my V7 PS2 and SMD with slide card, but will only play the BS before the game. When you go through the setups and start the actual game, the things freeze in the middle of loading up. I have used both Alcohol 120% and Blindwrite for these, with the same results. Also, I get the red screen of death at the beginning of the process after swapping out the Swap Magic CD (version 3.0), but it actually does load and play the credits, etc. before the actual game. Any advice?

On another subject, I have just had my first problem with a DVD-based game, Celebrity Deathmatch. I cannot get a single program to read the disc, it will go to about 13% and start getting read errors, probably some sort of protection. I used Clony XXL, which said "no protection" and YAPS, which said no protection also, but indicated "dummy files". Does anyone know of a single program that can get around this and actually read and copy the disc? I have tried about 8 different programs with the same results. Can anyone help me out before I pull ALL my hair out??

The program I use for my backups is Record now DX. i use this for both CD and DVD backups. You may want to give it a try. It has done every backup for me on page 5 of this thread.

 

Well, I FINALLY got both Hot Wheels and Speed Kings to work using CDLoader after the Swap Magic disc

BUT, I still can't get any program to read, let alone back up, Celebrity Deathmatch. Is Record now DX a different program from RecordNow Max? I've tried using RecordNow Max, DVDDecryptor, Nero, Alcohol, Blindwrite, and several others I can't remember (my head is spinning), but none will back up this game. They all do the same thing, they hang up at about 13% of the read and start showing eternal disc errors. Thank you for the suggestion, I will look into this program if it is different from RecordNow Max. Does anyone else have any other suggestions??

you should not need to use the CD loader for speed kings or hot whells world race... but if it works!! I have also tried the record now MAX and did not have any luck.. the version of record now DX that I use came with the sony DVD burner. The software rev is 3.91W. I have not tried Celebrity Deathmatch yet but will try in the next few weeks. When you use Record now DX make sure that you build you global image and burn the image at the min speed. You may also want to check for a PX engine update for your burner.

I have just bought a dvd burner and would like to backup my stuff. Would I be better off swapping my V7 ps2 for a mates earlier model??? or will I still have to use a cd loader for things like True Crime???
Will a version of swap magic dvd 3, when it arrives sort out V7's need for this cd loader bizznezz? anyone know when it will arrive. B4 anyone moans about not reading the thread, I read the whole 11 pages and to someone new to the subject it kinda gets a little confusin!

 

Its all a matter of opinion. I myself would keep the V7 PS2 as it has not let me down yet..

I've had no games in general fail on me. The only games that fail on me are online games using DNAS authentication code. The latest games ahve been using them including NFL BLitz Pro, Need for Speed Underground, and SSX3 (all of which I've backed-up). Nothing is worng with them until I try to play them online. It goes into DNAS authentication and it shows error -402. Even the originals take 2 tries for them to work. All my older online games have worked fine. Just these new DNAS ones are giving me trouble. Any advice on how to bypass it?

My point is if I need to get the fliptop SMd mod to bypass the DNA authentication problem when trying to play backups online. In other words has anybody been able to play online backups with the SMD mod?

 

Has anyone successfully backed up [bold]Terminator 3[/bold]?? I can get it to load initially, it will then go to the options, play the little "mini-movie", and then stall when it starts loading the actual game. Is there any kind of work-around using CD Loader? I haven't had any luck getting it to go with either the Swap Magic discs, or the SMDs and CD Loader. Anyone have any ideas???

No with SMD you will not be able to bypass the dnas to play online so far no way to bypass yet!!!

 

Hey, anybody have anymore luck with Freedom Fighters? I've made 2 copies and they both get the EA Games screen and then the black freeze. I've tried with V2 Swap Magic and then Swap Magic in conjuntion with CDLoader for version7PS2's... no luck.

 

I have freedom fighters working fine with the ver 5 CD loader.
