I reinstalled Windows XP SP2 on my PC. Now, whenever there is an accidental power failure(PC not shut down properly), the traditional Windows Disk Checking Utility, which checks for any corrupted file etc., does not appear and skips right towards the Log on screen. And now, my PC is slowing down due to this 'Unchecked Business'. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
You can manually run it by going to run (command-R/Win-r)and typing cmd and hitting enter then type in the cmd "Chkdsk c: /*" see below for * * "/F - Fixes errors on the disk. Does not scan for bad sectors." /R - Locates bad sectors and recovers readable information (implies /F). so it would look like this chkdsk c: /R chkdsk c: /F or if you want to run both of them chkdsk c: /F/R Hope that Helps
