From a site I am reading I think it is version 5 Model no. SCPH-30001 R 8 screws in bottom I think. I had my ps2 for a couple of years now and now decided to mod my ps2. Things I am looking for. *Play copied ps1 and ps2 games and originals. *Being able to play old cd console games burnt and original. (DC neo geo cd ECT... games to if possible.)(Please state witch ones work.) *Playing old games thru some sort of emulator. (N64,Nes, snes, sms, sg, MAME, Neo Geo ECT....)(Please state witch ones work.) If you need more info about the ps2 please stat what you need to know and were I can find the info. Also I hope it doesn't wreck the DVD play since it's my only source of DVD movies lol for my room. Also how hard is it to install them? Also are there any firmware upgrades were it allows you to play different codec’s other then DVD like DivX, avi ECT? PS. Can I put my own hard drive or do I have to get that I think i have a 10 gig hard drive lying around witch is prob enof to put a hole lot of emu's and roms and the software needed I think if it's possable to use old harddrives lol.
The best basic chip i know of is the Duo3. I know it boots all kinds of CDs, but i don't know if it loads homebrews. If it dosen't, Crystal Chip 2.0 will be great.

i don't know about about "VAST" memory card and i would hurry up and get a modified ps2 ASAP because i have a feeling sony will start cracking down on modifications to the ps2.the vast memeory card looks promising but you never lnow it might not be what it's hyped up to be and i don't like the idea of one of my memory card slots occupies.
Anyone actually own one? Or is it not out yet. Anyways like I said it's been many years and the warranty is gone.
The VAST Memory Card isn't out yet! Though I think it will be pretty sweet, if it can do what they say it can! And yojacks... I don't think that Sony is going to go after the Modders/Hackers of the PS2! They've been keeping an eye on the PS3 and Blu-ray, and haven't really paid much attention to the PS2!
If it is possable & reliable the question i ask myself is why would mod chip makers bother making chips the answer i come up with is it is'nt any good, better to stick with tried n true
yeah i guess ur right sony cares to much about the ps3 to think about the ps2 i guess i just said that because of the modchip raids.
This thing is probably fake or something, it is also probably better to just get a modchip that can do all the functions of this mc exploit. I dont know anything about all the FTP stuff in the VAST memory card but if all you want to do is play backup games, then it will probably be easier in the long run to just solder a modchip in. Then that way you don't need to do any sort of swap methods to boot you're backup games and you will be much happier. I'm still not convinced that this exploit will be as great as everyone expects it to be, even though the PS2 has been around for years and we can pretty much take advantage of every aspect of it, the VAST exploit might be capable of doing what it says but only time will tell if this thing is real. Also, I know a modchip will definitely be much more worth the money than this thing, especially since you don't need to use swap methods on a modchip. But if you don't mind wasting a little bit of time just getting a backup game to load then buy this, if it even exists in a few weeks.
Seems like the Duo 3 does pretty much everything you need. For $20 bucks, I'd say buy it. I don't know about the Vast, I imagine it's gonna be pricy when it comes out.
Yeah, and now that the Duo 3 Ultra is out, you can have an affordable modchip with some of the advanced features that you will see in higher priced mochips, like dev1 and dev2 modes.
actually the VAST chip might be pricy but you can just download the file from the net and just get a regular memory card and compile it yourself.
