OK I have use Shrink most of the time for my dvd and this one dvd it wont worked came up with date error (cyclic redudnacy check) I then used Decrypter and nothing... wouldnt work. Thought maybe it was the dvd I borrowed so got another one a different type but same people (its a kids program on dvd so they have heaps of different dvds) and this one does the same thing.

I used smartRipper and got stuck on 3% and would not movie, I am currently using DVDFab Decrypter and hopefully this will work but its is taking forever and I pretty sure it will get stuck like the others and not go any further.

What programs do you guys recommend if this on does not work.

    Cheers :D

Can you play the DVD in your PC?

Try it with Decrypter again and if it fails, please copy/paste the log into a reply.

Some DVDs are just poorly made and can't be read completly. Decrypter has an option to ignore read errors. I'd like to see your log before going that route though.

I/O errors are caused by your DVD -rom/burner not liking the DVD. It's having trouble reading the info off the disk. Just cuz it plays on your tableptop player doesn't mean there isn't soemthing wrong with the disk. Player work differently than PCs. They ignore and skip over a lot more junk. PCs can't do that when you ask them to rip. They've got to read every piece of data on every file.

You can try cleaning the original (even if it looks clean) with rubbing alchohol and buff out any scratches. But if it still doesn't work, you may have no choice but to try another.

As for the slowness of the ripping, don't be surprised if the problems reading this disk have cause your system's DMA setting to dial all the way back to PIO. You may have to reset your IDE controller. There's a thread for that somewhere on this site.

I did the clean and it still showed the above. I use the DVDFab seem ok use Nero to burn it did that ok.

Pop into the dvd player seem ok in begining then it started stop and starting and getting stuck and all jerky.

I think these guys have a great dvd protection their dvds wonder why they are millionairs :)

    So any other suggestions?

    Cheers :D

I would make sure it is clean just as GT50 mentioned and retry it. You did not mention a slow rip time so I assume you are not having a problem with that.

Try this once and see what happens. Open the DVD in Decrypter, Go to Tools > Settings >I/O tab. Check the Ignore Read Errors box in the lower right corner, under Options. This will cause Decrypter to skip over the bad sections.

Depending on how bad the disc is it may end up readable. Sometimes.

You are getting ahead of me, hehe...

There are only a few copy protection schemes used on DVDs. A bad disc or a bad copy can sure seem like something new has come along.

To check the copied files, try watching the ripped files on the computer. If they are not skipping or jumping then the problem is with the recorded disc.

What brand of blank media are you using?

    Sorry :)

Ok I am using DVD-R TDK brand I assume they in the states as well they pretty popular here in Australia.

The dvd Decrypter has it at 51% so far and is doing ok so we see what happens, the disc as a lot of scratches on it so that could be the issue they both dvds have a few scratches.

    I let you know

    Cheers :D

Hmmm.... kid's videos... scratches. I wonder how that happended? Back in the day when my kids were young, I seemed to have a lot of problems with computers and audio/video gear. Now that they're up and out, stuff just seems to work better and last longer. Must be improvements in technology... . :)

If you feed 'em they get bigger! (The kids, I mean. Well, adults too, but we grow in the wrong direction!)

I've lost the thread of this. Were you just now ripping or burning? And what error message did you get?

You can, of course, try other programs, but I have a feeling that if the problem was on the rippping side your reader just can't get to the info on the disk and software isn't going to help. You may have to invest in a scratch removal device (or maybe try toothpaste or car wax) to save this dvd.

I guess I am ripping the cd (take the informtion off the cd and puting on my pc and then putting on to a blank dvd) dont know still getting use to the lingo!

I do believe the dvd too damages to be copied, I have some stuff here that suppose to help scratches but these are just really bad. The dvd are not mine they are a friends so I guess then been used a fair bit.

    Cheers :D

Taking the info off the dvd and putting it on your HDD is the ripping process.

Placing it back on a blank dvd is burning.

I hear that scratch removal sometimes works if they're not too deep, though I've never done it myself.

If you have more than one dvd reader device (or can borrow another) try that. Some are less sensitive than others.

Well, good luck. If you get it done, post back.

    And Cheers to you.
