Anyone who has read my profile knows that my dad was applying for disability. Now today, Christmas Eve of all days, we got the letter from social security. He has been disapproved.

I have been putting every cent of my paycheck for the last several months into helping pay bills and buy groceries. Even with my mom's and my own income combined, we cannot make our payments.

We received a notice of foreclosure months ago. Now we are screwed. Before Spring, we will lose our house and every possession we own. I'm hoping to make some money from selling my Intel rig. It might keep us in our home for a while still.(a month maybe)

Only a miracle can help us now... :(

that's just our messed up damned government. frauds leech it, illegals leech it, officials leech it, then when there's some good and deserving citizens that actually need it, *those* are the people that get rejected.

democrat or republican, we're still run by lazy, greedy, sneaky, cheating assholes.

my heart goes out to you and your family.

is there any way to appeal this decision?

We have 60 days to appeal, and a several month wait to re-submit.

But our house will be gone before they even *bleep* process it...

with stuff like this going on, it's easy to see why the suicide rate is so high this time of year, no?

do you have any relatives or family friends out there to help you, estuansis? any other resources? there's got to be some way to save your house.

    @Estuansis
Very sorry to hear your circumstances - I wish you and your family the best.
Good the hear a lawyer has taken on your Dad's disability case.

It's been a bit since I've been in mortgage lending but have you all contacted the lender? If not do so asap.
Most lenders do not want to foreclosure and are usually willing to work with borrowers to avoid foreclosure.
Yes there are some scam mortgages companies but the majority are willing to try and work out payment arrangements - esp. in the real estate market.

    Good luck!!

Yes, we have contacted our bank. My dad actually went in and spoke with the President of the bank personally.

They are willing to work with us, but they can only give us so much time. Maybe a few months. This will hopefully be enough time to get our affairs in order to either move or start making payments. Hopefully the latter.

    :EDIT:

To highlight the weight that this money will have: Before my dad lost his job, he was making $45K a year. We were not rich, but far from impoverished. With the disability payments, he will make $40K+ a year. We need it bad.

Apparently, according to the letter we received, my dad is not disabled enough to receive disability benefits.

Having lost one eye, gone through several heart surgeries, and having had a brain tumor removed, I can assure you that he is, indeed, disabled. The fact that he is missing an eye prevents him from working anywhere but an office job. The job market in this town is absolute crap. So he couldn't even find a job if was able to work.

Also, thank you to the mod who *bleeped* my post instead of yelling at me :) Was it you Binkie7?

    Lol!

Thanks for all the support guys!

Just today my parents went to Wausau, WI to speak with state legislator Dave Obey. Things are progressing slowly, but I am doing fine and we can at least eat.

Here's hoping the appeal is approved. They have an 80-85% rejection rate :(

He's had several letters written by his doctors. I'm really stumped as to why they would turn him down :(

You know what...the same EXACT thing happended to my mom. She then contacted Congressman Weiner (Congressman of Brooklyn), then the Congressman forced Social Security to put her on disability, so you should try contacting someone 'high' in the city.

We have already contacted our legislator Dave Obey. We're hoping for a response. My sister is already in correspondence with him. So we might be able to state our case to him.
