Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS routers have a severe problem when using p2p apps. this ia a problem with linksys. basically what happens is your router tracks old connections for a long period of time and this causes your router to hang/crash and your internet will stop working and requires you to reebot your router. uTorrent a very good app that hardly uses and CPU usage or RAM has put a help guide for this on there site and will be of use to alot of people with these routers. After following this quide my router has been up for a week and GB's of torrent bandwidth have gone through no problem with no restarts. I installed HyperWRT2.1b1 tofu11. Note the problem is with the default firmware and all replacement firmwares except 2. THIS INVOLVES FLASHING YOUR ROTUTER WHICH CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE IT FOR GOOD AND WILL MOST LIKELY VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I DID NOT MAKE THIS GUIDE I AM JUST REFERING PEOPLE TO HELP THEM FIX TORRENT TROUBLE WITH THESE ROUTERS. DON'T PM ME OR BLAME ME IF YOU MESS UP YOUR ROUTER OR BLAME THE PEOPLE ON DD-WRT, HYPERWRT, OR UTORRENT. READ THIS GUIDE VERY VEYR CAREFULLY UNTIL YOU UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING. Note: I messed up my router the first time and the way i fixed this was a exe file of linksys site that updates the firmware on thse routers to the newewst editon from linksys. i then installed HyperWRT and it worked fine. mods this could be a good idea to some how incorporate this link into a sticky. This is global problem with all the versions mentioned of linksys routers and has still not been fixed to date with linksys routers. These routers are very common and i am sure alot of people have experienced problems with them.
