I get an I/O error whenever i try to transfer data onto my thumbdrive. i only get this error when i am using my laptop. i am able to get file off of the drive but cannot put files onto it. it use to work a long long time ago. when i use the thumb drive anywhere else it seems to work just fine. does anyone know how to fix this problem? is there something wrong with my usb port? everything else seems to work; mouse, digicam, etc. well minus my mp3 player because it cannot recognize it for some reason or at least recognizes it once in a blue moon.

I believe i am using a usb version 2 because i am able to transfer files rather quickly especially for the larger ones. I have a dell laptop and i believe i have a intel chipset.

try uninstalling the usb ports in device manager & restart windows to let it load the drivers for the ports
