I have been trying to do the exact same thing; convert Tivo video to something I can burn to dvd. I tried a few different software programs but everything seemed to take forever! I recently downloaded a trial version of videoredo (google it) and thought it did a great job. It will allow you to convert the tivo to mpeg2. At this point it was very easy to edit the start and stop frames and cut out portions I didn't want. Then it allows you to burn to dvd. I thought it worked great! My next chore is to pay for the full version as the trial version only lets you do a 15 minute video. The version you want is called TV Suite.

    Hope that helps
