i can record programs on my tivo and can transfer from the tivo to my desktop. what i cant figure out is how to encode the tivo file to some other file so i can burn it to a dvd. anyone got any ideas?
http://www.dvd-ripping.biz/tivo-to-dvd.html For step 3, instead of AVI/MPEG to DVD/VCD Converter, I would use DVD Flick to convert to DVD. You can put multiple mpegs on the same DVD and make a menu . Here is a guide for DVD Flick. http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html You need The 1.3 version that supports menu creation.
I have been trying to do the exact same thing; convert Tivo video to something I can burn to dvd. I tried a few different software programs but everything seemed to take forever! I recently downloaded a trial version of videoredo (google it) and thought it did a great job. It will allow you to convert the tivo to mpeg2. At this point it was very easy to edit the start and stop frames and cut out portions I didn't want. Then it allows you to burn to dvd. I thought it worked great! My next chore is to pay for the full version as the trial version only lets you do a 15 minute video. The version you want is called TV Suite. Hope that helps
