I had ripped a DVD to an m2v stream and I intended to recompress with TMPEGEnc plus (latest version). Well, did I have problems. First, when I opened the .m2v for encoding the program said it was 00:02:00 long. I'm no genius, but a 4.4 GB file is probably NOT 2 seconds long, no? A slightly older version opens the file up, but it does not show the whole time. It cuts out at 63 minutes, wnich according to my calculations is the 4GB point. I'm using Windows XP and NTFS on all my drives. If I MUST split the m2v down and then merge it later, I will (under protest) but this is B.S. Anybody out there get TMPEGEnc to read a 4GB+ file without 1. Crashing 2. reporting it as 2 seconds 3. opening up the first 4GB, chopping the rest off? Thanks so much!
It's just a TMPGEnc thing but it doesnt bother me cause i frameserve to it from dvd2avi and get no problems that way! (read the dvd2vcd guide in the dvd section!). I guess at the end of the day, we didn't pay for TMPGEnc unless you have TMPGEnc Plus!
Hmm. That method works, eh? I suppose because the AVI file it's reading from is only a few K. Interesting. I shall try it
I have a smiliar problem that my computer wont write files over 4.99 gigs. So I use Premiere to open and edit the the files and then video server it to TMPGEnc. It works great for me, i dont encode any other way when im using TMPGEnc.
