I have an AVI video clip that I would like to edit. I want to cut off the first few minutes.

I load it into TMPGE 4.0 XPress and do the editing.

When I go to the next step, Format, I am lost. I don't know what to select under Video Codec on the Video tab. I don't want to change anything about the original file except the editing that I did. I don't know which one of the 8 listed codecs to choose so that the output from TMPGE will be the same as the file I started with.

    How should I proceed?

    Thank you.

    Try editing it in virtualdub.
Use the slider at the bottom to mark the start and end points,
    set Video/Direct stream copy
File /Save as avi (save it as a new avi)
