Can someone help me (or explain why) with this problem...

I go to "Add Source Wizard"
I choose "Add Source from a File"
    I choose my AVI
It give me the details on it (Format type, etc)
I go to the Cut-Edit Tab at top
I drag the slider along, I get to 50% and I get the following error

{An error occured during a transmission with the VFAPI Frame Server.} [OK]

I quit out, and i get a Windows Send report thing, saying the
    "vfapiframeserver.exe" is at fault?

What causes this, and can it be fixed? is it a problem with my AVI, or a
    Codec, etc

    Hope someone can help..
    Thanks in advance..

I also had this problem and have looked at other solutions but can't seem to figure anything out. The TMPGEnc website is also completely useless. I encoded several videos in the past and then I opened one up and Xpress crashed. Since then I've been unable to load any videos into the program without it crashing... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased the new TMPGEnc4 Express and I believe I read that it is suggested that the vfapi frameserver is not stable. I use premiere pro and frameserve using the premiere pro frameserver (http://www.videotools.net/)which has always been rock solid for me.
