    I have a problem that I suspect is either media or my dvd/tv combo. I captured some home videos in avi format. I then converted them with TMPGenc 3.0 to mpg format. I took these mpgs and using TMPGenc DVD Author built a dvd. (With both software, I kept it on the standard settings). The DVDs I used are TYGO1 (Taiyo Yuden's). Unfortunately, when I take the dvd's to my toshiba dvd/tv combo, I have some audio issues. There is static and feedback until I fastforward the scene. After I fast forward it, the audio issue goes away and there is no feedback. So, basically there is audio problems until I fast forward. I tried the dvd in my computer and there is no issue from the start. Finally, I have used these dvd-rs to back up movies, and had no audio problems.

    If you have any suggestions how to resolve this, they would be appreciated. Do you think it is a media issue, or just a tv/dvd issue? I'll probably pick up some different media soon and give it a try.

    What Audio format do you use on your DVD"s??? The Most Compatible Format used on DVD"s is "Dolby Digital AC3" so maybe try useing that format to make the audio on your DVD"s...There is a Dolby AC3 plugin for Tmpgenc DVD Author/Express that will encode your Audio to Dolby AC3....Might be worth a Try??

    Cheers

    It's a known Toshiba issue.
    Use AC3 as Minion has suggested, and it MAY help.
    Toshi players are just extremely fussy.

    @Minion and Rebootjim,

    Thanks for the suggestions. Since my first post, I have tried some different media and I get the same result. Re the sound: The audio I am using is the default audio in the TMPGenc Express 3.0. It says MPEG Audio Layer 2, 48000 Hz Stero, 192 kps. The files are coming from a Sony Digital 8, captured through firewire as an avi. The mpeg files have no distortion or audio issues when played on my computer, it is only when I put them onto an authored dvd that the sound issue comes along.

    I think I will purchase the Audio plug in that you suggested and give it a try. I have been monkeying with this project for a month now and have little to show for it. I haven't tried it on another stand alone, which is something I probably should have attempted a while ago. Anyways, will let you know if this works. Thanks again.
