I just got TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 and everything works fine except for the Tool menu where you burn to video to the DVD burner. When I click on the Tool Menu, a popup comes up and says "This application is a TMPGEnc DVD Author tool and cannot be used solely", and then it won't go to that section. I have no clue why it is saying this and why this part doesn't work. It's the only thing in my way of going in to burn the DVD.

Does anybody have the solution or know what this is or what I can do?

You do need a burning program on your PC eg. NERO for this feature to work TMPG cannot do it on its own. This has been my experience anyhow.

I already have both Nero 6 and CloneDVD2 on my comp. do they need to be open for me to use the TMPGEnc tool menu? Can you explain what I need to do being that I already have these on the comp?

You have to go through the encoding routine ( make your menu etc and encode your project ) before it will offer to burn your project. You cannot just burn any compilation you choose, one disadvantage of using the burn feature in TMPG is it always wants to burn at max speed not recommended for movie DVDs.IMO

Well as an alternative during the encoding process it asked where to store your project file. Find the storage location you told it and you should see your files AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS. Use NERO Burning Rom to burn all the files in the VIDEO_TS folder at 4x and you should be good, don't worry about the AUDIO file that is how I do it all the time. 100% success for me so far, I hope this helps.
