Im trying to convert a bunch of files, that are just about in the 85-90 mb area with TMPGEnc from what I think is AVI to MPEG-1. Thinking that this would be done in a breeze, was surprised to find out that the estimated time would be about 25 minutes. Is this normal? I just thought that it would go faster than this. Thanks in advance for any input.
The size of your movie doesn't really matter. What's more important is how long it is. Without knowing that, it's impossible to determine whether your encoding time is excessive. For the record though, TMPGEnc is not one of the faster encoders. The reason why it's so popular is because of its quality and that it is relatively inexpensive($50), not to mention free if you're only doing mpeg-1 encoding.
Yes the MainConcept is the Fastest For High Quality Mpeg1 encodeing, I get about twice real time for encodeing to VCD so a 2 Hour movie takes about 1 hour..For Mpeg2 encodeing CCE is definately the fastest and actully it"s Mpeg1 encodeing is Just as Fast but not of as high Quality..I have encoded Files at 352+240 to Mpeg2 at more than 5 times real time useing CCE but it isn"t an easy program to use properly so Mainconcept is the best Bet....Cheers
Thanks teegee420 and Minion for your recomendation and seconding. I'm still waiting for a response on another thread regarding the best DVD burning software. Would you happen to have a recommendation? I used Click to DVD that comes with my Sony VAIO, but it seems too slow. Gardener
Do you mean a Program For Just Burning Video_TS Folders to DVD or do you mean a DVD authoring Program which you would use to Put Mpeg2 files On a DVD with menu"s and Chapters??? For Burning Video_TS folders to DVD anything will work and the Burning speed should be about the same for every Program because it is the Burn speed of your DVD Media That determines for the Most part how Fast it will Burn a DVD...As For DVD authoring program I would be more concerned about the Programs features as opposed how fast it creates a DVD, I Personally Like useing DVD-Lab for createing My DVD"s cuz it is easy to use and it can create a DVD as simple or as Complex as you want it to be, I also Just Bought the new "Ulead DVD workshop 2.0" which seems so far to be a pretty Awesome program which has really High End Features but it might be a Little Harder to learn than DVD-Lab and Much more expensive....Cheers
Minion, Thanks for answering what I had wanted answered (the first part of your response), and for providing insight on a question (the second part of your response) that I didn't think of asking but am glad you answered it for me. Gardener
