For encoding AVI's to MPEG's what program do you people think is better? I am torn up on whether or not i should buy Mainconcept..
They say Canopus is the best encoder in the market... but after that Mainconcept is your next pick... I have both and their encoding quality is superb! I'd go for Mainconcept if you're trying to encode several videos in the future and use it frequently therefore...
I like TMPGEnc, fairly good quality but I don't have the time. I prefer Mainconcept, it has speed and quality
Tmpgenc has More Filters and Features that MainConcept doesn"t have but MainConcept is Much faster at encodeing and Both Produce about the same Quality .... Canopus Procoder will Produce better quality than Both Tmpgenc and MainConcept But it is Terrorably slow Like Tmpgenc.... CinemaCraft Encoder SP is Definately the Best Quality Encoder on the Market and it is also one of the Fastest Encoders on the Market but it is Difficult to use because it doesn"t have the Standard Settings other encoders have but it does have a Lot of Encodeing Specific Settings so to use it you have to have a Very advanced Knowlege of Mpeg encodeing and Digital Video and to use it to it"s Full potential it is good to learn how to use a Frameserver Like AVISynth with it so you can encode more Formats with CCE and so you can use AVISynth Filters to do some Pre=Processing of the Video..... So if you do not have a very advanced Knowlege of Mpeg encodeing but still want Fast encodeing and Good Quality then I would go for the "MainConcept Encoder" but if you would rather have the Best quality over Fast encodeing then Canopus Procoder 2/Express would be a Good Choice.... I would Only recomend CCE SP 2.70 if you really Know what you are Doing and Have an Idea what 2:3/3:2 Pulldown is and what type of Scaning Block order is used for what type of Video and understand Quantization Levels and Gop structures ect then CCE SP is the way to go..... Cheers
