I'm using the TMPGEnc to encode SVCD films, I use avi2vcd decompressor to strip the audio. I have set TMPG to the highest bitrate and have set motion search precision to high quality. I burn it to cd via Nero. It all works fine but the playback is a little blocky. I don't get this when I download an already encoded SVCD. Does anyone know why, how to fix or an alternative program to use that is as easy as TMPG? The frame rate is auto set to 25fps and I'm using 2 pass VBR. Encode mode is non-interlace. I set source aspect ratio to 4:3 PAL 704 x 576 and Full screen (keep aspect ratio). Any help would be appreciated.
TMPGEnc does a shit job at multiplexing, especially with SVCD so that's probably what happened here!! I find that when I multiplex with TMPGEnc, it's fine on the computer but shitty on the tv. One thing you can try though is to use DVD2SVCD with TMPGEnc, that way, besweet will encode the audio and tmpgenc will do the video, bbmpeg will multiplex! Also, I find CCE SP is a better encoder for VBR SVCD and wicked fast too! You could do 4 pass in the time it takes TMPGEnc to do 2 PASS and the quality is way higher! However, the price tag may be the problem, $2000 :S
