in the beginning i was able to use this program to convert avi file into mpg files. however, now i get a "invalid pointer operation" and it wont convert the files anymore. later on i cleared up the "invalid pointer operation" error, but this program still wont convert the avi or any other file type into a mpg file. can some help me with my problem?

What is the error it is Giveing you Now??? Have you trued going to "options" to Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raiseing the "Direct Show Multimedia File reader" to "2"??? This helps if Tmpgenc will not load your file or encodes your File with no Picture and it fixes some other problems...

i dont get an error message anymore. however the output file keeps disappearing after the program finishes encoding the project. raising the "directshow multimedia file reader" priority did not seem to help. the output file still keeps disappearing.

What do you mean the Output file keeps dissapearing??? Do you mean the File Just doesn"t exist or the File has no Video???
Have you tried useing Virtual-Dub to frameserve the File to Tmpgenc??? Or hell Use a Different encoder Like Mainconcept encoder ,It produces about the same Quality but it is Like 3-5 times as fast....
