I know this maybe is a dumb question, but what i this type of file and should i be alarmed? Thanks - Kattersen
I was having some remote hacker problems myself and have seen this file refranced in alot of logs for anti virus cleaners forums. One refranced this file as reading from it while running microsofts media center. The file is created at windows startup not shure at this time as when but its deleted when windows shuts down. which is why DOS can't find the file to delete it outside of windows. at the same time windows web site doent know or isn't telling what this file is for. I have 2 copies of it one on my computer and another on the same computer that had been copied when i was backing up data from another computer and nither can be removed via access denied process is currently using this file. so if anyione finds out what this file is and what process is using it then please post so we can remove it by killing the process 1st. thanks
Are you running WinXP or Vista? Do you have a Media Center PC? Are your TMPSBE files in the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV\TempRec
Yes Winxp pro MCE yes thats the location as well as a copy in the shared folders same location kinda.
TempREC is the Media Center file for time shifting. Media Center records the channel you are watching so you can pause, rewind, and fast-forward live TV. It cannot be deleted simply by trying to throw it in the Recycling Bin. However, if it becomes too large all you need to do is restart your computer. Each time the computer is restarted Media Center disregards the file and starts over. If you are using your Media Center PC a lot I would definitely suggest restarting it at least once a week so TempREC does not take too much of your free space. This file quickly becomes gigabytes after watching a few hours of TV. If you leave your computer on for days at a time it can become a huge file that will bog down your system performance, especially if it is on the same partition as your OS. If you have an a additional HDD or partition where you would like Media Center to save your Recorded TV, including TempREC, click on this link to download Tweak MCE http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en This program is from Microsoft and allows you to fine tune Media Center, including where to save recorded TV. Even if you don't want to move Recorded TV, I would download Tweak MCE because you will likely be able to use its features down the road.
