Looking for a program to backup my clips and movie off my hard drive, one thing about it is I want to be able to view the files off the DVD after I back/copy them to the DVD. Cause when I use a backup program I have to restore it to view the files off the disc. I want to use all the avilible space on the DVD I don't want to select a bunch of files and put the on the DVD burn program and hope they fit and if that don't delete the files until they do.
Any time that you use a "disk spanning" software that splits a file, and prompts you to put in another DVD, you are asking for trouble. Your best bet is to save your video files to an external hard drive.
But I have a lot of clips and movies and I'll have to buy a lot of external HD's I rather save it on DVD cause they don't cost that much.
I don't know of any prog that will do the "best fit" thing you're after. However, take a look at this, perhaps you can make use of it: http://directory.fsf.org/project/gaffitter/
DVD Media is so dirt cheap $40. nz for 100 verbatim's why bother spanning, every movie i ever ripped was able to be fitted to a single layer dvd after the crap was removed which mean't no compression needed except for the odd few that had some extra's of the actors doing a public appearance etc
Maybe I don't completely understand the question, if not just ignore me, but I do know that if you use ImgBurn to burn your files to disk, you can use the calculator function to keep track of how much space you are using off of your media.
Found somthing that does exactly what I want but it doesn't burn the files directly to the disc with out adding the folder they are in. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2037102,00.asp So what I do is, use nero to burn just the files to dics and the program is just away of showing me what files go where. Is there another program out there that does the same thing but copies just the files and not the folders.
