Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me here. I captured MIBII using Canopus 100 onto my hard drive. Turns out I have 18 gigs of memory in this file (AVI) I then, using Mainconept software, converted it to MPEG and it brought it down to about 4.8 Gig or there about. I attempted to burn it using WinDVD and the video came out great, but some of the audio was missing and somewhat poor. I also used Roxio 7 to burn, but the video quality wasn't great, not nearly as nice as the WinDVD. Seems that after I convert, I still have too much Gig to burn, causing the software to modify the burn, causing bad quality. The movie is only 1.5 hrs long and I shaved off as much as I could. An ideas out there? I couldn't imagine tryin to capture a full 2 hrs...
The Size of your AVI files has absolutly No effect on the Size of the File after it has been Encoded...Your AVI file could be 18gb or 180gb and it wouldn"t have any effect on the size of the encoded file, What does determine the size of the File after encodeing is the Length of the File and the Bitrate you use to encode it..... You should have no problem at all getting 1.5 hours of Video on a DVD with close to the same quality as the Original AVI file as Long as you [bold]"Use a Good Quality Encoder"[/bold].... "MainConcept Encoder" is Good accept that i have a Funny feeling that WinDVD Creator and/or Roxio are Both re-encodeing your File which is Ruining the quality..... Neither "WinDVD Creator" Nor "Roxio EMC 7" are Considered good Quality encoders ,They are actually on the very Bottom end of the Scale were quality encodeing is Concerned but they are easy to use and Poeple don"t know any better so Poeple use them..... When encodeing in mainConcept Make sure the quality settings are Turned all the way Up ("Search method" and "Search Range" should be Maxed out) and that the Bitrate is set so the encoded File will be Less than 4.38gb (for a 90 Minute Movie the Video Bitrate should be about 6500kbs and the audio Bitrate should be 192kbs) then after the File is encoded use a real DVD authoring Program Like "Tmpgenc DVD author" that will NOT re-encode your Files and let you add Chapters and Menu"s and Scene selections and put it all on DVD for you.... You will achieve MUCH better quality this way..... Cheers
