I've received this message in DVD Decryptor when trying to back up a few of my movies lately. I use DVD Shrink (with DVD 43 running in background)then DVD decryptor to burn. My file size is small enough to fit on the disk, but it has too many sectors. I've also tried the long route going FabDecryptor, VobBlanker, Shrink, then burning but I get the same error. I've searched the options for both programs and I dont see where I have any control over the sectors themselves... what am I missing? your main problem is the fact that your using dvd 43 if its an older movie your'e trying to back up then turn dvd 43 of then use decrypter by itself there are some titles out there that cause a conflict with dvd43 running in the background i would also suggest that you get anydvd its way better than 43 could ever be with out all the problems
There's so many new burning titles out there, and I haven't really had the time to review each and figure out which is best to replace the programs I usually use. I see lots of headlines, "all in 1 dvd utility," but I'm not about to buy then find out the hard way I was just as good off with Fab Decryptor, Shrink, DVD43, and sometimes VobBlanker. Is there really an all-in-one wonder worth buying on the market? The 2 movies that did this to me were The Greatest Game Ever Played and The Hills Have Eyes. Both are new releases, but others didn't seem to encounter a problem using the same programs. I've been backing up my movies for around two years now and never got the "too many sectors" error...anyone else have any ideas?
Okay, I tried again on The Greatest Game Ever Played (Disney) and on Tristan & Isolde (20th Century Fox) and both got the exact same error...not enough available sectors. This time I turned off DVD43, used DVD Fav, VobBlanker, Shrink, and burned with Decryptor. I've never seen a movie that combo couldn't tackle but I've failed on 3 out of the last 4 movies I've purchased to the same error. Again, the files are compressed down to 4.5 gigs so there's pelnty of room, but there's like 100k too many sectors. I've gone thru settings of all the programs a dozen times, and I'm about to uninstall/reinstall even though I don't think it will do any good. I'm guessing it's a Shrink problem, but I really don't know either way. Someone please help...I couldn't find this problem listed anywhere in the forums.
Cmon, anyone have any ideas? This frustrates the heck outta me and I can't figure it out. Failed using Nero Recode too.
4.491 GB to 4.5 GB, should be good there. I've never even heard of a sector error before, but evidentally that 4.5 GB is split up in up to 2.4 million sectors. My movies are filling up 2.51 million sectors.
The best combo for burning is Shrink with AnyDVD running in background, then burn with decryptor. You could try lowering the amount of data shrink outputs to, somewhere in shrinks preferences theres a thing that you can change to either dvd-5 dvd-9 or custom, choose custom and enter something lke 4300mb into the box below. The file will be slightly more compressed (prob not noticable) but should have less sectors.

Keith, you may want to try a new app that just hit a few days ago. It is called ripit4me and it uses dvdd & shrink and fixvts automatically. Check this thread http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=67918 (hope that worked) or google for it. There are at least 2 forums going on the program. It is getting great reviews. it's free and very easy to set up and use. I have tried it on 3 new titles and works great. B
Thanks for all the posts guys...I was getting worried. I've had problems on several titles over the past few weeks that others have breezed through. I've never had problems for years now, even on the more tricky titles. It almost has to be a compression problem somehow, but Nero Recode 2 failed as well which really confused the heck out of me. I'm trying the RipIt4Me program now, but it looks like it only uses your exsting programs for you. I've changed the settings in Shrink to 4.33 GB...hopefully it will work. I'll let yas know either way, and again thanks a bunch for the many ideas.
Andrew/Dialysis- Thanks a ton guys, it was as a compression issue and bringing the space used down to 4.33 GB worked. I still can't fully understand why it worked, so if you have a moment to explain it then I'd love to hear it. Bjerz- Thanks for the link to the utility, and I was wrong about it. The program works beautifully, breaks complex encryptions, and is a true 1 click program. I would recommend it for anyone going the "free" route, and a solid backup for the AnyDVD users. It does require decryptor, shrink, and FixVTS to function at full capacity, but most of us have those installed anyway. Great find!!
