My friend has a Toshiba computer that was acting all weird. I tried many thing, but couldn't find the appropriate files. Also, I was looking to recover the compter with the program that was installed on it. I couldn't find it. So my friend asked if I had the CD to recover my Sony computer. I said yes. She asked for the CD and I told her it wouldn't work. She said it is all right, so when the recovery finished, we turned on the computer and I get a black screen with white font. I forgot what was writen but it kept repeating the same small text about Local Enthernet. I need help making the computer usable again.

Here are some questions, please answer if you can:

Can the problem be fixed? How?

    Thanks.

P.S. The model of the computer is:

    Tashiba Satellite U300
    PSU30C - N3608C

I think that your first effort should be to contact Toshiba for a recovery CD Set.

I don't know what was on the Sony recovery disk, but it probably did more harm than good unless you know how to work around these things.

Can the problem be fixed? ->> Yes

How? --> probably not (easily) by you unless you have the Toshiba recovery CDs. There is very little way to understand the current state of the laptop based on your description.

If you can't get the Recovery CDs from Toshiba you may need to take the laptop in for repair. They should be able to reinstall the software (OS) provided that you have a valid COA (Certificate of Authenticity) with the laptop.

Both of those computers-the disks are drive images. You needed M$ Operating Disk to do a repair (Usaully HP/Compaq or Dells disks will work). dailun is right; Contact Toshiba for replacement disks if the pc came with them - about $15. If it didn't - Is there a restore partition on the hard drive/ might be able to burn your on set of restore disks.
Note - You will most likely loose all personal info and be back to factory.

    Burn On,
    Russell

PS. You could save the money by borrowing someone's M$ disk use you COA and donload all the drivers @ Toshiba's website for that model and OS used.
