Hi, i have TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112 drive on my notebook and i'm having some problems. Since XP SP2 I can burn cds without problems but DVD no, i get always an error message. Hi Even I am having similar problems like Jufas. Maybe I dont get those error messages but I too have the same drive and till date have not been able to write a DVD. Nero 6.6 fails to write a DVD using my drive. Scubabud, yes you are right about saying its a dvd-rw as it states on my toshiba laptop too but in the device manager and also in the nero 6.6, the drive is shown as TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112 Do you think it should matter? I mean I was sold this laptop saying it can write DVD's. Any help is appreciated.
Yeah I'm having the same problem. Googling around didn't provide much help either. I have this drive in my Toshiba laptop. Nero indicates it's a: TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112 (firmware 1332), but on the outside of the drives it states DVD R/RW. I only have managed to write some DVD without problem and I tried different brands too. About 10% of all DVD writing goes well without any faults. Anyone who can provide real help? It's a 'writer' and not a 'ROM' as I've managed to write some dvd-r and dvd-rw before(10% succes).
i have the same problem I think is an XP issue too :-( not sure what I can do about it - but is extremely iritating has also affected CD writing let alone DVD's anyone with any ideas??
My problem is similiar and maybe you are like me are successfully burning DVDs but you don't know it. I have this drive on a laptop using Nero too and I can successfully write a DVD but the drive can't read it afterwards. I take the DVD I created to any over DVD reader and they read it fine. Going out in search for a newer driver but I'm not optimistic after having checked toshiba's site, they don't even provide DVD drivers there.

I'm having the same problem, the owners manual says I have a DVD burner, but when I try to burn a DVD it wont recognize that there is a blank one in the drive. I don't have this problem with CD's. When I checked the BIOS it says I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R6112.
I done the firware and everything else I could think of or read about. I even went with more compatabile media. I just think there's an issue with the OS that began when I went to SP2 on XP Pro. Microsoft support techs couldn't help either, at a dead end.
