Hey. Everythings in the title really. I have a Toshiba Equium M70 laptop. The drive has been coming up with an error message whenever i try to double click the drive on My Computer to acces files : "Cannot access D:/. Drive inaccessible" or, its new favourite: "Cannot access D:/ Problem with I/O Controllers". It was happening for months, and i decided when i had time id completely wipe the harddrive and do a fresh install of XP. I JUST got the time. Did it, thinking it would solve the problem. NOPE. Still broke. Think its out of warranty, ive tried every known "solution" to the problem - None of which work. Wondering what my next move should be? I mean, i cant even play a damn dvd on it. Im lookin for a new laptop in the summer anyway, but i still want this one fixed. Im in the UK, and wondering about how much itd cost (if its not possible to do it myself) to get the drive replaced. Its a MATSHITA-RAM drive. Blah blah. Standard for nearly all toshiba laptops, spose they have to make their money somewhere.
You can get an external burner. That should work for you, and when you get a new laptop, you can use it with both laptops. Depending on the age of your existing laptop, it may not be worth getting the internal burner replaced.
current laptop is only a year or two old. Summer 2006 i got it brand new. Thanks for your help tho Grandpa BW ;-) Its 10 past 6..Am, and i have to go to school at 8:30. Havent slept yet. So obviously i dont have time too at all. :-(
