...If those don't work, remove the hard drive. Then try pressing all the power/reset/sleep buttons a few times. If it still will not start, take both batteries out and leave it unplugged for a day. If you still have no luck, you might want to rebuild it. Even if you find no problems in the process, the system might work once it is back together (I know it is strange, but I have fixed dozens of laptops with nothing but a rebuild & new thermal pads/grease.)

...If you do rebuild it, don't forget to blow the dust out of the heatsink & fan while you are in there.

the system came with one stick of ram. I have another stick i replaced it with to see if that solved the problem, nada...I also tried booting with no ram, I got the beep from the speaker so something is working...I have tried a backsup screen from another parts toshiba same model, hooked up an external monitor also. I have followed a few threads about hibernation mode etc. So I have left it off with nothin in it for a day, held down the power button, used the FN keys to switch displays and nothin.

The fans turn on, hard drive spins up, cd drive clicks on, but thats it. Ugg this is bothering me so much

take a look at any silver flat topped can shaped capacitors that they are not domed or leaking brown stuff.
