Just wandering why someone hasn't made a copy of whatever disk you need to softmod (splintercell, mechassualt, ect..)then loaded whatever else active replay does, all one one disk to install over xbox software.. May sound stupid sorry, I'm thinking it should be as easy as installing linux over windows, linux can even set up separate partitions, and dual boot....What knowledge am I missing to understand?
it's very easy; here's my first attempt at softmodding, it doesn't really need to get much simpler than this - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/557450
Wow, what a read Creaky! May I ask why you used 4.0, instead of 5.01? I thought 5.01 was a nice update- but hey, that might just be me. Stimp: Are you asking like a copied AIO disk? They have one, but the Xbox can't read copied disks until it is modded, thats why you have to exploit it like Creaky showed you. I think thats what you were asking, anyway.
I used 5.x initially, i had both versions to hand. I was an xbox noob These days i tend to just stick with 4.0. No reason other than 4.0 is what's on the memory card so i just keep re-using that.
Oh. I just like the UI that the 5.0 has. 4.0 was also on my card for the longest time, then I just decided to install 5.0
Depends some on the size of your memory card.. If like me you can't use the action replay software to put the files on the mem card in rar format the 5.0 is too large for both files at once. The 4.0 fits nicely with 8 free blocks.. it's one of those odd things.. The 5.0 should fit on an 8MB card.. there are enough blocks exactly, it just doesn't.
An AID disk can put the game-save onto the Xbox for you without the need for a memory card (except it has to be modded).
