i just installed the driver and restarted and there is no change. It still likes to dart into the top and bottom corners and stay there, when i try to move it it starts for the corner again also when i reboot i still get the 08611 error (I have aslo tried a different keyboard on the thinkpad and still on change
i am actually using an ibm thinkpad 600e myself and what i think your problem might be is that you may have a virus best bet is too back up and reinstall windows because viruses just keep on growing mate! there are viruses going around that even kill your pc's motherboard.
as you turn on laptop put win xp disc in and turn laptop off and on again, when it pops up any key to boot from cd press any key you want. let me know when you have done that. BE WARNED: dont try installing vista because you need a 512mb ram to install vista
i have no idea it just stopped working properly once formatted before(it as only been formatted once). and i have no idea on how to fix it as you have probably already noticed
just carry on with win xp install and leave a post here tellin me if it as worked and i will get back to ya later gotta go work mate
i haven't formatted it yet, but i did remember that before i originally formatted it i did uninstall a set of updates, which upset the computer and is also the reason for me formatting it.
This sounds more like the case of the trackpoint being worn; very much doubt it's a virus; easiest way to check is to boot up a Linux live cd, that'd (hopefully) rule out virii/windows problems edit- in fact i had an ancient Thinkpad 760series laptop that had the same problem in Windows 98. Did the same under linux too
