well in the uk, you could usually keep your phones and sell them. but also upgrade for a small fee, but you resign on a new contract, for 12 months over here i tend to wait until the contract runs out, or buy the phone if i really want it and the network wont give it me razr v3 is ok, but wont be long till its outdated
