I've been using Nero Vision Express 6 & now Nero Vision 7, and I have been having the same transcoding problems when making DVDs. I have been trying to burn 2 DVD's each with an AVI file of around 700mb. I have noticed that for each AVI file, Nero freezes in the transcoding process at the same spots. For example, when I try to transcode the first AVI, it freezes at around 15% every time; while the second AVI freezes 45% thru.
It may be a problem with the files, if you have alot of time and really want them then you can reencode them to Nero Digital AVC at 1.00Mbps (that way the quality isn't depleated much. Or you can try recompilining your current AVI with a program likw Virtual Dub. This will tell you if there is a stream problem.
I was thinking it would be better to get a MPEG converter. Do you think Nero Digital would be a better choice?
I'm found it works well, but you need time. VirtualDub is faster but may also need to reencode the video. NeroVision is esentualy a MPEG-2 converter, but works linearly so it can't pass the stream error. Have you watched the videos to see if there is any problems in their video/audio?
