The only important message I manage to obtain from your log is: [bold] unable to use cache: 0x80040216 [/bold].

But maybe Nero doesn't support WMV movies.

I also saw that Nero was trying to re-encode your short clips in order to fully occupy a DVD-R, 7045120 bytes, encoding your clips into 720x480 DVD movies.

Now, we never suggest to use Nero and I, personally, will never suggest to make DVD movies from low-quality clips, only for DVD backup purposes or when starting from a high bitrate (> 2500 kbps) AVI movie . No quality gain, lot of time needed, very large bytes occupied.

Let's re-start from the beginning: which resolution have, your clips?

If their average resoltion is VCD-like (352x240) or SVCD-like (480x480), just make WMV --> (S)VCD movies, first. They will be 10.1 MB x length (in minutes) large for VCD movies, and about twice as large for SVCD movies (at an good average bitrate of 2000 kbps).

After encoding them all (with TMPGenc, which is fast and free, for VCD MPEG-1 movies) into (S)VCD MPEGs, author (with DVD Lab http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/multiple_svcd_on_dvdr.cfm ) a DVD containing multiple (S)VCD movies.

    Is, this procedure, acceptable?

I appreciate the quick response. I have been primarily burning video captures and DVD copies. This was the first venture with this type file. In no way was I trying to enhance the resolution of these files, I was simply trying the burn in about every configuration possible to see if it guided me to the right area. Just prior to this e-mail I attempted burning these clips on SVCD. Presto! All went well, and it seemed in the SVCD process it went one step further and analyzed things. Nonetheless I was able to successfully transcode and burn these files. Question; Since the files are now in the correct format what parts of the file do I want to import on a larger project? The file has four sub-files like MPEG, segment and so forth. As I mentioned earlier I am "very" new to this and do not know all the correct nomenclature. I do mange somehow. Thanks for all the info.....Jim
