I found an Xbox in the garbage, DVD tray is broken. Previous owner tried to install the clear dvd piece, but the clear blue case is intact. Boots to MS dash just fine, fixed DVD tray to open/close but ruined. Replacing that is easy. However, before I mod the Xbox, I want to get the music installed off the Xbox onto my PC. The previous owner has at least 3 gb of good music. I want to get the music onto my PC. Hacking the Xbox with lets say the mech assault exploit wipes the hard drive completely I am guessing? I never had a memory card, but I ordered one and the action replay kit the other day. I only modded an HD via xboxhdm. Is there anyway to mod the xbox keeping the music on it intact? Or can I access the HD by putting it into a PC, then creating a seperate partition? I want to get the music off the xbox HD, or mod it and keep the music on there. Any pointers will be appreciated.
Well; you should be able to use XBoxHDM while transferring to a bigger xbox, you can copy the files via FTP onto your pc before switching drives(The softmod itself doesn format all the data off), then you can load it onto the new HDD when you install it, or just keep it on your pc.
