    Anybody experienced this one?

The PS2 itself operates no probs, Magic 3.1 installed 6 months ago - works fine, backups etc etc...

Maybe motor problem OR driver ic - anyone successfully analysed this problem?

it happens with my tray also
It makes a screaching noise when it opens
    And opens very slow
Dont hav harm on working of backups so i hav neglected it
    Dont worry
    Its just fine
It must be something which blocks its path from comin out

It is not mechanical as I disconnected the drive mech and the motor is VERY slow, find it hard to believe it is the motor as it has nice inductance and no leakage off the windings.....

I have just got an old PS2 with a bad laser, off ebay for £30, so I shall run some tests with it when I get it.......I am pretty sure it's down to the driver IC......this way I can prove it....

    I'll keep you posted....

Just thought I would post the result in my earlier issue, hopefully others that experience the same can cure theirs the same wway......LOL

The problem was just down to the 'guide rod' being sticky.....the guide rod that is attached to the underneath of the tray itself........

Mine V4 PS2 struggled ejecting but retracted OK....then totally refused to eject full stop.....

I stripped mine down and it was down to the guide rod and black feeder bracket being 'gummed' up with crap.....

Gave it a clean with wd40 (solvent cleaner) and light smear with (don't laugh, margarine) and it works like a treat.....
