I believe from what I read that you can't burn copy protected games with a "trial" version of Alcohol 120%. I just want confirmation if this is true or not. thanks
If i understand correctly, with the trial, you CAN burn games (provided you have the appropriate hardware etc). The only limitations i see are a timebomb and nagscreen.
Yes you can do BF Vietnam I don't like using the original disk if I can help it (helps keep the ware and tear on the original disk to a minimum).
I was just wondering because in Shoey's above post he says this "Down near the bottom where it says datatype, choose Safedisc 2 and burn RAO DAO at max. the (RAO DAO) part I don't see in my version. I have (RAW DAO). So I'm just wondering if it is just an sp or I'm missing that from my version alcohol 120% that I got from here.
You should be able to make a back up of your original disk with the plextor 708A. I used my Lite-On 16X DVD-Drive XJ-HD166S and my NEC 2500A DVD. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]"The Redant"[/small]
The Plextor PX-708A does protections very nicely. I just backed up Painkiller (SafeDisc 3.2) with mine although I used BlindWrite5 instead of A120. The copy plays from all my drives (burners included) and needs no emulation. When you choose The SafeDisc 2/3 datatype it should give you the correct settings and RAW/DAO is the one you want
Well the problem I get is at about 14.6% way through burning the image from my hd to cdr media it stops and I get this message "Something is wrong with the recording procedure. Please check the log file and report any errors to technical support" And it basically ends my burning
ok I just tried to back up far cry and same thing happened, this is the log file: ########################## System Information ########################### Windows 2000 Professional 5.0 Service Pack 4 (Build 2195) Processor info: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz x 2 (3361MHz) Memory Available to Windows: 1,047,276 KB ############################ Program Information ########################### File Name: C:\Program Files\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120\Alcohol.exe Company Name: Alcohol Soft Development Team Description: Alcohol 120% Original: alcohol.exe Product: Alcohol 120% Trademarks: Alcohol Soft Development Team Copyright: Copyright(C) 2002-2004 Alcohol Soft Development Team Version: 1.9.2 ( Build 1705 ) Date: 2004/05/06 Size: 1375232 Bytes Hash: 6b991008d82dc4d647e8ad86b632e232 File Name: C:\Program Files\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120\alcoholx.dll Description: Alcohol virtual device control library Original: alcoholx.dll Copyright: Copyright (C) 2000-2004 Version: 3.47.0 ( Build 0 ) Date: 2004/04/30 Size: 74240 Bytes Hash: c11b59c21722ca30141696c21b72578d File Name: C:\Program Files\Alcohol Soft\Alcohol 120\devsupp.dll Company Name: Alcohol Soft Development Team Description: Alcohol Software Device Capability Library Original: devsupp.dll Product: Alcohol Software Device Capability Library Copyright: Copyright(C) 2002-2003 Alcohol Soft Development Team Version: 2.3.7 ( Build 505 ) Date: 2004/05/06 Size: 38400 Bytes Hash: 0e6f733d3f570f3b0328261d11a2794e ########################### User Information ########################### User Name: UN-REGISTERED Company Name: UN-REGISTERED Registered User ID: UN-REGISTERED ########################### Options Setting ########################### Devices control interface: Default Driver Control Interface CPU Priority Level: High Memory Buffer Size (MB): 128 Examine the accuracy of data read from physical device: Yes Turn off "Auto-Select best write speed" function if possible: No Overburn disc(s): No Fill memory buffer before recording discs: Yes Ignore Media Type: Yes RMPS (Recordable Media Physical Signature) Emulation: No BAD Sectors Emulation: No Sub-Channel Data Fixed & Emulation: No Laserlock Emulation: No Current Language: English ############################ Device(s) List ############################ (D PLEXTOR DVDR PX-708A (atapi, Port 0, Bus 0, Target 0, Lun 0) (E AXV CD/DVD-ROM (a347scsi, Port 4, Bus 0, Target 0, Lun 0) (F Generic DVD-ROM (d346prt, Port 5, Bus 0, Target 0, Lun 0) (G Generic DVD-ROM (d346prt, Port 5, Bus 0, Target 1, Lun 0) ##################### Installed Device Drivers List ##################### 1394BUS.SYS a347bus.sys a347scsi.sys ACPI.sys aeaudio.sys afd.sys agp440.sys ati2cqag.dll ati2dvag.dll ati2mtag.sys ati3duag.dll ativvaxx.dll audstub.sys Beep.SYS BOOTVID.dll Cdfs.SYS Cdr4_2K.SYS Cdralw2k.SYS cdrom.sys CDRPDACC.SYS cdudf.SYS CLASSPNP.SYS d346bus.sys d346prt.sys disk.sys Diskperf.sys dmio.sys dmload.sys dump_atapi.sys dump_WMILIB.SYS dvd_2K.SYS DVDVRRdr.SYS e1000nt5.sys EFS.SYS Fastfat.SYS fasttx2k.sys fdc.sys Fips.SYS flpydisk.sys Fs_Rec.SYS ftdisk.sys hal.dll i8042prt.sys intelide.sys ipsec.sys isapnp.sys kbdclass.sys kmixer.sys KS.SYS KSecDD.sys mnmdd.SYS mouclass.sys MountMgr.sys MpFirewall.sys mrxsmb.sys Msfs.SYS msgpc.sys Mup.sys NDIS.sys ndistapi.sys ndiswan.sys NDProxy.SYS netbios.sys netbt.sys Npfs.SYS ntdll.dll Ntfs.sys ntoskrnl.exe Null.SYS ohci1394.sys parallel.sys parport.sys PartMgr.sys ParVdm.SYS pci.sys pciide.sys PCIIDEX.SYS Pcouffin.sys portcls.sys ptilink.sys pwd_2k.SYS rasacd.sys rasl2tp.sys raspptp.sys raspti.sys rdbss.sys SCSIPORT.SYS SECDRV.SYS serenum.sys serial.sys smwdm.sys srv.sys swenum.sys sysaudio.sys tcpip.sys TDI.SYS UdfReadr.SYS uhcd.sys update.sys USBD.SYS usbehci.sys usbhub.sys usbhub20.sys USBPORT.SYS vga.sys VIDEOPRT.SYS wanarp.sys wdmaud.sys win32k.sys WMILIB.SYS ws2ifsl.sys ################## Detailed Information of Device(s) ################## /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// (D PLEXTOR DVDR PX-708A(0:0) detail information. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Vendor Identification: PLEXTOR Product Identification: DVDR PX-708A Production Revision Level: 1.04 Location: atapi, Port 0, Bus 0, Target 0, Lun 0 Support recording method: DAO, RAW SAO, RAW SAO+SUB, RAW DAO(96), TAO, DVD DAO BURN-Free Technology: BURN-Proof Auto-Select best write speed: PoweRec -* Note: This information below is provided by the unit, it might be inaccurate. *- -* This software does not use this information! I will drop the o/c on my computer and try it again, but I believe it did the same thing when I wasn't o/c it. Could it be the type of media I'm trying to burn it on to? I'm using a Memorax 52 x, cd -R. Should I get some kind of other media?
Is there a way I could slow down the burning process with alcohol 120 or should I try a different media?
o.k. I've managed to burn the image onto my cd -r. But when I insert the cd to try and play to see if it worked the far cry picture pops up and it seems like my plextor seems to be searching for something and can't find it. So basically I'm stuck with the far cry image on my screen. Any idea what the problem could be or I can do to get it going? I know the image on my hd is good because I can play the game without the cd inside my plextor.
I tried a different media, with no luck. The copyright picture of far cry appears when I try to play it and then it just doesn't do anything from there.
