Tried to make a copy of an OS cd and got caught exposing myself

    I used Nero"copy cd" to make a copy of a OS that starts with 2 letters not the V. I was installing it to upgrade my aunts old computer. Got snagged by and Error message "system verification stuff" the HP Chat tech new I wasn't using the original disc went downstairs and got it and finished the install. What did I do wrong and whats the best way to duplicate the disc for backup purpose's ........lol.
