Rob: Create a folder, put HJT in that folder, Put that folder in your c:drive, Rename hijackthis to xxxx.exe. Let it run till it's finished. What you posted is far from your complete log. It goes all the way to 023's

    I don't think that is a good sign :-(
Almost like something is hiding the rest.
You got AVG so that should show up as a 023 service.
Im not sure if tea timer is messing it up.
And Kapersky should have caught it

Actually in your second log I don't see AVG ???? anymore

That is his complete log bkf...

    Platform: Windows ME (Win9x 4.90.3000)

    Windows98/ME don't have 023's.

Those will instead, if applicable, show up as 04 RunServices Keys.

I sort of thought about that when I saw ME but the hjt site said works with ME. Don't see many ME logs in here. I did not know.

HijackThis is totally compatible and works fine with Windows98/ME.

Its just that you will never see any 023's in a log from a Win98/ME computer as the OS's don't have Services in the same sense as a WinNT/2K/XP machine.

If an application needs to be run as a Service on a Win98/ME machine it will show as an 04 RunServices entry like these...

    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [KB918547] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KB918547\KB918547.EXE
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [KB891711] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\KB891711\KB891711.EXE

You Think blowing these two away would do the trick. Those two entries look like the run triggers. Doesn't it leave behind some dll's as well as other stuff. Don't want this thing to rebuild itself. Looks like the are a bunch of varations of the dropper.generic.DzD :)

Possibly... if the infection hasn't created any .jobs to reinfect.

There is a tool called NoLop developed by skate_punk_21 that should take care of the infection.

These are the instructions to run it...

mcrobc please do the following(you may want to print this out)...

Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below...
    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3

[*]First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
[*]Double click NoLop.exe to run it
[*]Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"

<<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>

[*] When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
[*] Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
[*] A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish

Please post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log.

--If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program.-
