I'm trying to back up our digital pictures on DVD and I've been running into some trouble. I was able to back up the files once with all of the same equipment, now when I try to do it I get an error.

I am using CD BurnerXP 3, I have a Toshiba CD/DVDW SD-R5372 External drive, with updated firmware and drivers. I use Memorex discs; either DVD+R 8x or DVD+RW 4x. I am able to write everything else with this drive, DVD movies with DVD decrypter and CDs with the aforementioned CD Burner software.

When I try to write the data to either kind of my discs, I get a sense key error. (5) I believe, and the program freezes up so I have to shut it down.

Please let me know what I could try, and any other information you might need to help me.

    Thanks, Shane

Have you tried Google's software, Picasa? http://www.picasa.com/download/index.php

I use it. There is an easy to use backup option. Also, you should change media. Memorex are a poor choice for cds and dvds. Try Verbatim or Taiyo Yudens.

I'll try picassa tonight when I get out of work (and check the file names as well, I think they are all pretty generic names given by the memory card though).
I should have come here and asked about media, but I thought memorex was a good name. I'll buy one of the other brands next time around....

Okay, that didn't work either. When I try to backup using picasa, the program tells me the job is completed, but the drive just blinks and the disc shows up as empty. :(

Maybe I'll try to break the folders up and put them on CD instead.
