I'm trying to back up our digital pictures on DVD and I've been running into some trouble. I was able to back up the files once with all of the same equipment, now when I try to do it I get an error. I am using CD BurnerXP 3, I have a Toshiba CD/DVDW SD-R5372 External drive, with updated firmware and drivers. I use Memorex discs; either DVD+R 8x or DVD+RW 4x. I am able to write everything else with this drive, DVD movies with DVD decrypter and CDs with the aforementioned CD Burner software. When I try to write the data to either kind of my discs, I get a sense key error. (5) I believe, and the program freezes up so I have to shut it down. Please let me know what I could try, and any other information you might need to help me. Thanks, Shane
Have you tried Google's software, Picasa? http://www.picasa.com/download/index.php I use it. There is an easy to use backup option. Also, you should change media. Memorex are a poor choice for cds and dvds. Try Verbatim or Taiyo Yudens.
I'll try picassa tonight when I get out of work (and check the file names as well, I think they are all pretty generic names given by the memory card though). I should have come here and asked about media, but I thought memorex was a good name. I'll buy one of the other brands next time around....
Okay, that didn't work either. When I try to backup using picasa, the program tells me the job is completed, but the drive just blinks and the disc shows up as empty. Maybe I'll try to break the folders up and put them on CD instead.
