I recently got Season 2 of The L Word. I have been trying to back these dvds up using DVD-RB Pro with the CCE encoder. I have been completely unsuccessful wtih the Pro Version of DVD-RB. It simply stops the process and will not finish. I get no error messages, it just stops. I tried the HC encoder and got the same problem, but it stopped at a different point. I then went and tried the free version of DVD-RB, version 0.89, and the backup was successful; it didn't hang up and stop. However, the last episode on the disc is so blocky, jerky, and pixelated that it's completely unwatchable. I was successful in backing up these discs with DVD Shrink using deep analysis and maximum smoothness, but the picture quality is not what I'm used to getting with DVD-RB. I have heard that DVD-RB sometimes has problems with multi-episode dvds, but I have not found that to be a problem before when backing up the Seinfeld dvds. Any ideas or help with DVD-RB Pro just stopping or getting a better quality last episode with the free version??

    Hey there,

I also tried to copy my set of Season 2. I have been using DvdShrink and burning with Nero. I have tried two versions of Shrink and have been unsucessful with both. My problem is similar to yours as my copies are also very badly pixelated. I never had it this badly before. I also notice that in a couple places on my original discs they pixelate but not as much as they do in the copies. Showtime shouldn't be selling DVDS that do this. I noticed one of the discs from my Season 1 set also does the same thing. I hope someone will be able to help us with our problem pkath123. Best of luck to you also.

I have used DVD-RB with episode DVDs successfully: HOUSE, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, MOONLIGHTING..... and I know I did more than those just can't remember them all! What I do is rip with DVDDecrypter first, then use DVDRemake and take out all the unwanted stuff, like warning screens, director comments and such... I even take out buttons from the menu that are not needed.... like the extras and stuff like that. then I use DVD-RB ... just for the episodes. Perfect all the time! no pixilation, to freezings, no problems with the burn onto top notch media like Taiyo Yuden, or Verbatim! I used DVD-RB PRO version 1.08 (just updated) with CCE! never had a problem with Rebuilder ever stopping in the porcess! What are your settings?

Well, it's been a long time since I posted that question, nice to see someone actually still looking at it. I had sort of forgotten about it. I'm going to try the new version of Rebuilder Pro (I was unsuccessful many versions ago) and see if that helps. I've backed up other tv show discs without problem since that time. I'm now using VOB Blanker to remove extra unwanted junk, so that should help. I'll see what happens. By the way, is Remake that much better than VOB Blanker?

    better,no
    more user friendly, yes

vobblanker kinda assumes you know about dvdstructure and terms but playing around w/ these types of app's is the best way to learn imo!
