Hello, Ive got kind of a piss off question mainly because its pissing me off. When I go into startup and click on my computer the system has to search for my drives this can take a minute or more. it also effects some program and file opening. after a while (days weeks) the system will go back to normal and open up my computer with no delay. I can't be the only one who has had this problem and any help is good. thanks.
Are these local drives or network (NAS or remote PC) drives. I have a NAS box and the drives spin down after a period of inactivity. When they "wake up" it can take several seconds (15 or 20) for the local PC to discover them. Not to be a smart a**, but did you time it with a watch? 60 seconds would be a long time and a sign of antoher problem. I am guessing that it's not that long if you really time it.
There are many things that can cause this problem Maximus 21, Here are some of the most common ones that you can try, get the stopwatch out after each one lol. Many people ignore the simple options when sometimes they are the most affective. 1- Do virus and spyware scan. 2- Defrag your hard drive (maybe start this before going to bed, if you ignore the rest dont ignore this one) 3- Run the windows disc clean up. 4- Uninstall any programs etc that you do not use. 5- Turn offf any autamatically update options you dont need (nothing wrong with updating anything manualy as long as you do it regular.
