I've flashed a couple of 360's this way before with no problems using the same pc, same sata 6421 chipset card, etc..

here is whats going on. when i boot into win 98 using my usb drive i open the dosflash file.. I then enter in the proper sequence to "Read" my original firmware off the new 360. I turn my box on, off, then on again however the sequence of the computer beginning to READ the orginal firmware doesnt happen. The numbers that usually begin to start appearing in DOS dont.. I just keep getting that same number FLASHING sequence but the "READ" never occurs... Any ideas???

Don't shut your XBOX 360 off. Unplug the DVD drive's power cable and plug it back in.

Yeah, the DVD power cable is right next to the SATA.
