Hi, Im new here so please bear with me. After buying a PS3 last week, i am having trouble updating the system software. My PC is connected the internet via a wireless router, which normally gives me download speeds of around 16kb/s (very slow i know). I have connected my PS3 to the internet via the wireless router asewll, and i can access the internet using the ps3's web browser fine. In order to play games online, my PS3 tells me i need to update the system software. However when i try to do this, it gets to around 10 - 15% and then gives an error message saying that it couldnt connect to the server. I then tried to download the software via my pc, and trasfer it to the PS3 via a usb pen drive. However when i do this i get the message "data corrupt" when i try to run the update on the PS3. When downloading the software on my PC (from http://uk.playstation.com/help-support/ps3/guides/detail/item60697/Download-now/, i notice that the file size is around 119mb (which takes me approx 2 hours to download on my (painfully slow internet), but when the download finishes, the .pup file is only around 16mb??? Does anyone know what the problem could be with this, as its really starting to get annoying now!! Thanks in advance for any replies, IBIZAGTI
just look for SYSTEM UPDATE on the ps3s xmb ( the first thing you come to when you switch it on) and follow the instructions the ps3 should then update the system its self.
Did you even read his post at all? Wow.. Okay well this may be a stupid question, but are you downloading the correct region update from Sony's site? You have a UK PS3, right?
Hi, and thanks for the reply! Yes i have a UK PS3, and the damn thing just wont update, which is getting annoying as i really want to play COD4 online!! Any help with this would be massively appreciated, Thanks, IBIZAGTI
