I just downloaded Anydvd myself. So will Nero rip with Anydvd? I always use DVD Decryptor and Nero Recode 2.

it will rip with anydvd but will not compress

so you need nero recode, dvd decrypter or CloneDVD 2 which would be my choice anydvd and CloneDVD 2 are made for eachother

and there 10 dollars off the combo this month making both programs 49 bucks just type in "afterdawn" where it asked for a coupon

    I used AnyDVD ver 5.5.2.1
to do the on the fly encryption removal

and dvdshrink to bring it to iso format
then I will burn it back to single DVD-R

Summary for drive G: (AnyDVD 5.5.2.1)
    Drive (Hardware) Region: 1

    Media is a Data DVD.
    Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)

Video DVD (or CD) label: DVD_VIDEO
    Media is CSS protected!
    Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!

    RCE protection found.
Found & removed wrong DVD structure!
Found & removed structural copy protection (Arccos, Puppetlock)!
    Found & removed invalid VOBUs!
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
Found & removed 2 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!

I tried to use the um DVD decrypt and after swtiching opering systems
I had IO errors on regions ect. and if I did a on the fly
Unencrypt using the other programs and just copy it straight to the
hard drive I came across errors on play back
    even before shrinking it etc.
1: the movie doesn't even play right on the PC in the first place
2: The movie plays just fine on a normal DVD player
3: If you decrypt with programs it may give IO error
4: Use AnyDVD to do the on the fly decrypt for this one
5: then use the DVD Shrink
or what ever to reshrink it back down etc..

This has some nasty protection the causes many effects and will drive you crazy
1st it will act like the think is screwed up and ya need to clean it
2nd It will decrypt fine and then on the menu when you hit play
lol you go to some dam comentary thing and after that it locks up
3rd it does not being run directly from a sony or memorex dvd
    player with the right software....

    Random Errors - Random Crap.....
"What fitting protection for such a fitting movie "Bwitched!","
LOL the damn Movie is bewitched with protection ROFL.

I will tell oyu if it worked or not right after the encode :)

Ok everything Worked and it did compress Etc...
    and burned just fine ;)

    Good Luck

I finally purchased AnyDVD as recommended by many users and couldn't be happier with my decision. I ran it in the background, used DVDShrink alone and was able to burn Bewitched in about 15 min with no problems. I didn't even need DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter. I didn't think to try it with my $150 DVDXCOPY which previously was unable to decode Bewitched, as well as most newer movies. Maybe I'll try it for the hell of it.

I can't recommend AnyDVD enough to those of you like me that constantly come to Afterdawn.com to figure out why I get various error messages or bad burns with the newer copywrited movies. I spent hours screwing around with Bewitched trying every possible combination of products to get a good copy. HOURS!!! Is your time worth $29? Then get to Slysoft.com and download AnyDVD today. (Is this an infomercial?) There is a $10 promotion that ends today NOVEMBER 15 for afterdawn members. Type "afterdawn" in the Promotional/Coupon Code box during the ordering process. If you wait it will cost you $39. Either way, buy it. AND DON'T TRY DOWNLOADING A SERIAL FROM ONE OF THOSE SITES! I tried it yesterday--yes I am a cheap bastard like you--and my operating system got it's butt kicked by a variety of trojan spyware, viruses, registry changes, etc. Thanks for System Restore, Microsoft!

You probably have $1000 worth of copied movies or you're heading that way, so what is $29 in the grand scheme of things?

hi everyone, has anyone in this thread been able to back up war of the worlds? It is a new dreamworks/paramount movie. Madagascar is also dreamworks and i was able to back up tjust the movie(even though i wanted to do the full disk. Does anyone have any ideas on the new protection? I have anydvd dvd decrypter shrink dvd43. Someone on another thread said dvd clone2. I tried it and it won't go. War of the worlds goes through the movie, but in every program it stops at 92%. Help.

Make sure you have AnyDVD 5.5.3.1 (it was updated yesterday) and try it then.

If it does not work, try the guide I posted for ARccOS movies. More advanced, but should work out:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/255980

If you are afraid of IFOEdit, do not do the steps for changing the First play or for removing Adverts by Editing the IFOs with IFOEdit.

Also, running AnyDVD while attempting to follow the guide may cause problems, so disable it at least until you rip the movie.

I have noticed several posts where members are trying to copy these new encrypted movies [bold]ON THE FLY.[/bold] Burning a DVD on the fly is hard enough on a system without taking in to account that the new encryptions are more complex or may be a combination of several types. You need to think about your process carefully when doing the newer encryptions. Don't make it harder than it should be.

    jessey,
I have anydvd and clonedvd2 (like most people recommend). Very, very happy with it. As far as Madagascar goes I was able to do the following with these 2 programs (and I still haven't updated anydvd from 5.5.1.1). Burn the entire disc, burn just the movie and the penguins in a christmas caper, and burn the movie, the peguins, and the music video "i like to move it, move it". I like to experiment to get a disc that cuts to the chase and allows for the most fun for my kids. Just in case you wondered why in the heck I would try all of the above. Bottom line is to invest in the 2 programs. As most in this forum have, I tried just about every free / free trial and am also an old school DVDXCOPY PLATINUM user. After all of the trouble with Bewitched I broke down and bought the 2. Needless to say no more problems, hope it stays that way. Good Luck..........

@aabbccdd, Thats an excellent statement. X Copy products have been outdated for a long time. I don't condone PIRACY or believe in making a copy of a rental dvd, but when I see a new movie causing trouble and its one I really don't want to purchase, I will rent that movie just to see what the trouble is. This was the case with Bewitched. We have over 10 pages of posts just in this thread and as always when using Clonedvd/Anydvd combination this movie was no more difficult than any other movie. We see some people using many different steps and different programs and taking twice the amount of time to do the same thing Clonedvd and Anydvd can do in less than 1 hr total. My backup was done in 35 minutes. Yes its great if the free programs work but I would rather pay the small fee they ask for these 2 great programs and never have to worry about if they will work or not. Just my opinion.

I never really liked the TV series but my wife always watched it. You're right the movie was bad. Glad I didn't buy it.

You are both right, Bewitched was not a great movie. And certainly not worthly of the 10 pages it has earned in this forum. WOW..... For me and probably a lot of you it was just the challenge of defeating this movie. Being a newbie I was certainly confused by a lot of the suggestions (although I did appreciate everyone's help). Rip it there, burn it here, change the file name, smack it up, flip it, rub it down. In the end I will say it again I LOVE AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 and am greatful to whoever mentioned it when I first joined. No need to be confused with all of the other lingo out there. Plus for those of you who haven't tried it they offer it free for 21 days and tell you to use it as much as you can. How many times do we wish we could use something for nearly a month and know how well it works in the real world before we dish out our hard earned money.

Yes they are a great set of proggys. Anydvd just updated again today. You can't beat that kind of speed against the encryptions that come out.

I will most likely get Stealth next week (Tuesday) and possibly Layer Cake and Skeleton Key (already bought 5 DVDs this weeks, so I will wait till next week). If I do, I will post a guide on ripping it and burning it. Hopefully I can make it newbie friendly this time. There is also a chance a friend of mine will get Madagascar. If so, I will post a guide for that one as well (note, I will never post a guide for AnyDVD as that does not require one. I will only make manual ARccOS removal guides for DVD Decrypter).

Also, AnyDVD will work on it (Stealth).

Another thing, is to make sure you do not rip with DVD Shrink. That is one of the reasons Shrink crashes with the newer protections. Get a DVD Folder on your HD first.

If Shrink still gives you an error, try VobBlanker before you go into DVD Shrink. You may just have to blank out some of those bad cells. These are usually in the beginning and given a separate VOB ID. You can always preview what you ripped cell by cell in VobBlanker. Corrupted/bad cells are relatively easy to spot.

BTW: Jerry746, I also did the same with Bewitched. Rented copied then erased. I can see why people had problems with it, but it was still easy to rip.

^^^^ Thanks for telling me Stealth is good. I was not sure about the quality based on some of the crap releases this year (like Bewitched & most likely Zathura).
