Hi all, I have been using DVD Shrink and Nero to back up my kids discs for about a year or so now. What I have done in the past does not seem to be working with these discs. I usually just open the disk with DVD Shrink and Back up, allowing DVD Shrink to store the files in a folder on the hard drive. I use the same folder each time and erase the old files with each burn. On a rare occasion, i have unchecked a couple of the language boxes to bring the size down enough to fit on the memorex 4.7 GB DVD-R that I have been using.

The message I get lately is something to the extent of Cyclic Redundancy Error. Is there a program that might be more appropriate for what i am trying to do? Is there any way of removing the menu's, trailers, etc... using DVD Shrink? Would this help? Am I trying to compress this too far or something? I think it was seeing 51% on the automatic setting. I have tried both of these discs on 3 different DVD burners that I have. One in my HP Pavillion ZV6000, Dell M140, and an external Sony DVD writer that I have. I am thinking it is not a mechanical problem, moreover an operator problem. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

    -=Rick

Sometimes DVD Shrink needs help on newer DVDs which have copy protection on the DVDs that DVD Shrink can not handle. Below is a guide that uses a few extra programs to get the job done that DVD Shrink can not do. I linked you to this guide because it also uses DVD Shrink (To transcode the DVD) after you get the files riped to your hard drive.

    So here is the link....

Also for your knowledge (other reasons why you get the Cyclic Redundancy Error)

    1. Copy Protection (Get an updated ripper)
    2. Scratched DVD (Repair it with a repair kit)
    3. Dirty DVD (Clean it off with a soft cloth)
    4. Defective DVD (Exchange it for a non-defective 1)

Try using Ripit4me for Dizy movies.
    You will need

    decrypter
    shrink
    fixvts

These Titles have already been discussed already.

There's also a guide at the site.

Get better Disc to Back-up to. Memorex aren't very good. Try Verbatim Brand Media.
