    Hi Gang

For the last 2 weeks or so I have been having trouble with copying any movie. I use Decrypter and shrink and I am sure I have the latest copies. I get this I/O error and on the fly IFO/BUB file patching failed--reason invalid IFO/BUB file. I have not changed any thing with either program, and both were working just fine until a couple of weeks ago, and all of a sudden I started getting this.

Is it some thing I am doing wrong or what.? I have gone into both and got the latest editions too. Nothing has changed, still the same problem.

    Thanks.........Gunny

    Are you using good media?
I/O errors are usually a sign your drive doesn't like the disc your using.

    Hi

I get these error things before I start burning, in other words as soon as I start decrypter reading the movie disk, I get them. Or just about the time decrypter is starting to read the movie. I guess I should have put this in with the original problem.

    Thanks.........Gunny

<1>Why am I getting I/O or CRC errors while ripping my original DVD
I/O Errors are NOT bugs!!!! (well, not 99.99999% of the time anyway)
An I/O Error is a way of displaying a problem your drive had with the disc or your system config (mainly a disc problem though). Unrecovered read errors, Seek errors, Servo errors, Focusing errors, ECC errors, CIRC Unrecovered errors etc. are all your drives way of saying "I don't like this disc". Clean the disc, update your drives firmware (http://www.rpc1.org), try it in another drive, and get another copy.

Make absolutely sure this is the model you have, because if you flash it with the wrong firmware, you could ruin your burner.

    Sorry that link didnt work.
Go to that site and look on the left and go to download search and then put in your burner name and model number.

    Hi Jim

I did the firmware thing, did not change any thing I think the player has gone south. Time to move on, think I will move on to a Sony unit this time. Maybe have 2 player/burner units. With the cost of the burner/players these days being so cheap, it don't make sense to just get a player any more. With 2 player/burners you can share the load so to say.

I appreciate your help and time.

    Take care............Gunny

    Hi Gunny
A lot of people are going that route,I still have just a dvd rom and a burner.
The burner won't rip as fast as a dvd rom, but other than that there isnt much difference.

    Good luck
    Jim

    Hi Jim

Ya I know the speeds are off a little, but what is time to a pig they say. :) The little difference is no big deal.

Bad news about the decrypter, sorry to see him go. But I would imagine there will be some one spring up that does about what he did. But probably at a cost. I was wondering how he did what he did you as long as he did, and got by with it. I think the thing that made his program so big a hit was it was so simple to use, what could be any simpler to use. And free on top of it, always good to give a donation though.

    Take care.........Gunny

I donated several times to LIGHTNING_UK(mr dvd decrypter)but when you make it "donation" software, some people just think that means FREE.

The best investment a person can make on here, IMO is buying AnyDvd.
Dvd decrypter, and dvd shrink, will always be like a brand new app, as long as AnyDvd is available, and since that program comes from Antigua, where its legal.Anydvd should be around for a long time.

There is a new program thats out called DVDFAB decrypter, and it seems to work well.I haven't tried it on any of the Sony pictures dvds yet,but it is supposed to be able to handle them.
This program is free, and available on Afterdawn.

    blaze on

    Hi Jim

Yes I was looking at that DVD fab yesterday, thought I would try a free sample. Could not get it to get past the CSS, on a disk. A lot of these free programs do this and when you try it out you find you have to buy their program to complete the deal. I don't mind paying but I like to try them out first if I can to see if they work like they say they do. So many of them don't.

Try yours and see if it is some thing I am doing or the program is how I describe it. The instructions seem simple enough. Could not find it in afterdawn, had to Google it.

Well I already backed up "Hitch" and I loaned out my original, so I dont have anything to really test it out on at the moment.I see on this page some of the comments on DVDFAB Decrypter that some are successful with it and some aren't.

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvdfab_decrypter.cfm

AnyDvd has a 21 day trial,I highly recommend it.
I did "Hitch" on 2 discs.I did one with dvd shrink and AnyDvd,the "movie only" no menu, and the second with the movie replaced by a still image.
AnyDvd just laughs at Sony's new encryptions.

    HI Jim

Me again, I meant to tell you this before but I have downloaded the ANYDVD numerious times and I have yet had it work right. Reading about it tells me it is s a great program, but is there some secret to getting a good download of it. I would like to try it too before I buy it.

    Thanks.............Gunny

    Hey Gunny
I hear about people having trouble with AnyDvd all the time, your not alone.
I personally have mine configured to start up when I start windows,I never shut it off.
Why do some people have trouble, and some don't?I really couldn't tell you.Maybe it has something to do with system configuration, but I dont think anybody really knows.
Sorry I couldn't help you more with that question.

    Hi Jim

No problem no need for an apology, not your fault, you cannot know everything. :)

I guess I am not alone then, too bad they cannot put out a program like that and have it work right. How is a free trial going to be if you cannot get a good chance to use it. I guess you bought your copy. Maybe it is just the free trial use one that is giving problems.

I have been using the DVDFab program, seems to be working ok. It seems to be about the same speed as Decrypter, and a few less steps.

Are there any more out there, that you might have tried, that you liked.? What does the AnyDVD go for these days.? And i guess they have a couple of different, good, better and best type programs too.

    Thanks...........Gunny

There is a free program, similar to AnyDvd called dvd43. Its not updated as often as AnyDvd. The way it sounds, some people have good luck with it.Ive never tried it myself.
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cfm

As far as AnyDvd goes...I used the trial version before I bought it,so I doubt the pay version is any different.

You can buy AnyDvd separately for 39 dollars, or you can buy it packaged with clonedvd,(another very good program)for 59 dollars(usd)or you can buy AnyDvd, clonedvd, and clonecd, bundled together for 78 dollars. Some of the guys in here swear by the package of AnyDvd and clonedvd,im not familar with clonecd.

Whatever you choose good luck to you

    Hi Jim

Here I am again. I tried to download AnyDVD again, still did not work. So I thought maybe since I have tried it so many times, there might be some thing from an old version keeping me from installing it properly. So I did a search for AnyDVD, and found a lot of listings for it. I tried to delete them but it would not allow me to delete any one of them. I tried as a group and each one separately. I went into add and remove programs and got rid of it there. I went back to the search and they still could not be deleted. Whats up.

    Thanks............Gunny

Open up your C drive in Windows Explorer.Under programs look for any folder named Slysoft and delete it. If you have a reg cleaner run that also. Then reboot and reinstall the latest Anydvd (ver 5261). If you get the RED FOX icon in the system tray its active. Then try ripping a dvd with your favorite program. Anydvd should decrypt it.
