i have gcom 1.0 on my qoob chip. I run the menu and it tells me to go to http://192.168.1.32/backup.iso to retrieve the file. I am using Wget to do so. However when I hook my gamecube directly to my pc I get a "failed: no route to host" and when I hook my gamecube up through my router I get a "failed: connection timed out". Its not the cord, as i checked it by hooking up my pc to the router and it worked fine. Is the gamecube supposed to be hooked directly up to the pc or the router? What else am I doing wrong??

If it is a straight cable then hook it up to your router,if it is crossed then hook it directly to your computer. If you hook it to your router you might have to forward the ports to allow incoming/outgoing connections not real hard to do but if you need more help let me know ok.

Try 1190-5173 when forwarding your ports, and see if this works alright bro.The best advice I can give you is to mess with something like Paradox Disc Server at first to set it up or CubeSoft Phoenix. If you can't stream at first, then you might have to use a crossover cable not sure how to use it from just the modchip.I think your best bet is get a crossover cable as it is a direct connection without anything getting in its way.

I think I am going to start from the beginning again. First off, I would like to use a router so I won't have to be switching things around . I would also like to know where you plug the cord coming from the gamecube into. Is it into an outgoing port of the router, or do I unplug the modem and put it in there? What I would then like to know is where my router would assign an ip address for my computer and my gamecube, and under what heading within my router would I find it? Would these ip's stay the same? If they do change do I have to load up a new .dol file everytime? And finally once i obtain my gamecubes ip, i must use that one instead of the default 192.168.1.32/backup.iso correct? Sorry for such newb questions but I have been trying to figure this out all day. Thanks for any help.

If this is not possible I can go out and purchase a crossover cable but does that mean i need a static ip address? If so I'll need help with that as well.

Your IP address on your computer will be 192.168.1.100 and your IP address for your GC will be 192.168.1.32 as these are what your currently set at.Just plug it into your router on one of the ports, then connect the other end into your GC.With a crossover cable it would be like this hooking one end to the side of the GC and the other one into an ethernet card on your computer.I wanted to tell you that you might have some more luck by looking at the ViperMultiRipper tutorial on setting up your connection.A static IP isn't really necessarily I think, but on the safe side I would say try to use a static IP.Go ahead and get the guide here alright man,it might help you out http://d53.yousendit.com/F/31VFMD4T2WRGS3HH4L85KBT56N/ViperRipperMulti_Tutorial.rar .

Ok, I went and bought a crossover cable and i reloaded my gcom dol. I went into wget and it said i was connected. It said http request sent... 200 OK. Then it said the file size. It then said on my tv that it was streaming. But the file never recieved one byte. It was on 0% for a while, then it said timed out. What could be the problem now, also my line speed said --.-- K/s and never started going. I turned off my norton internet security before hand. Any ideas, thanks for all the help you guys.

I also read somewhere that the Realtek 8139 NIC isn't very good is there something else i have to do with that network card?

Also if i go back to trying it with a router, which pcip do i put in the .dol? Is it my wan ip? my router ip? or my dhcp client ip? Thanks, for putting up with my lack of network knowledge.

If i were to use a router, what pcip do i put into the .dol? Do i use the Wan IP? or the Router IP, or my dhcp client Ip? I would much rather use the crossover cable though. I stayed up most of last night and got nowhere on it. I have my network settings as
    Ip 192.168.1.100 Mask 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway 192.168.1.100
Dns Server 127.0.0.1 (also tried with nothing inputted)

The gamecube dol reads what it is supposed to. I have checked my cable and it says it is connected and running at 100 mb/s. I have turned off my norton is. I have tried moving wget to the d: where there is no spaces in the names of the directories. I can get connected using wget as it says waiting for http response.... 200 Ok. then it tries to download the file but it doesn't get past 0%. could it be a problem with the iso not filling? i am using the windows wget v 1.10.2 i think, the latest stable one it said. and i think i'm using gcom v1.0 my nic is a realtek 8139.

Also i installed mIrc last night but couldn't find the tehskeen channel?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as i am going bonkers here.

    Here, the easy way:

Set your router's LAN IP to 192.168.1.1
Set your PC's LAN IP to 192.168.1.100
Set your GC's LAN IP to 192.168.1.32

Go into your GC settings and set the primary DNS to 192.168.1.100, disable auto disconnect and all that other stuff. You don't have to fill in the other settings(tested myself. All the other settings aren't needed in a normal networking setup).

And then to download the ISO, use IE and go to that URL, it'll ask you to save the file. Don't use Wget, don't use any download accelerators, or any of that other stuff. Just use IE to get it, straight-up.
