    hey, i was just wondering...

i bought 50 dvds, memorex 16x, and when i use my burner to copy dvds and such, it only get to a speed of 4x, i dont know how to fix this, or if its possible, i have updated the firmware from lg and nothing changed.

any insight into this problem would be appreciated.

    thanks.

oh and for the record im using an LG GSA-4163 16x dual layer burner.
and im running a amd athlon 64 3200+ with 1 gig ram, a geforce 5700le 256mb vid card.

and im well aware that more speed can compromise quality, id just like to test my drive out at its full speed and see if i can burn faster without compromising quality, becuase i have been told LG makes good quality drives.

my guess is because of your Memorex dvds that you bought, Memorex is notorious for using CMC MAG as their crappy manufacturer...from the basic info you have given, seems like you know about your burner and firmware revisions, i believe the fault points to using bad media. may i suggest you get some GOOD media and see if your problems remain...check my sig. for media suggestions...Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim 4 LIFE~ :)

    :)

memorex DO make nice shiny tabletop coasters to put that frosty mug on~ that's what I do at least~ hehe, just giving you a heads up~

good luck w/ the new media...it makes a HUGE difference, i can tell you that from experience...i too used memorex a LONG time ago, got stuck with a bunch of coasters and now i have learned from my mistake...we all gotta start somewhere...have a good one~ :)

good to see you've tried some new discs~ may i ask what kind/format they are?

are we talking about the Fujifilm 8x dvd-r or the 8x dvd+r? also, where is the country of origin, meaning, if you look on the spindle on the side of the wrapper it will either say, "Made in Japan" or "Made in Taiwan" :)

the Made in Japans are genuine Taiyo Yudens, these are TERRIFIC media~ the made in taiwans are not as good, but, much better than the memosux you were using before :)

just curious, that's all...i'm glad you found one that works WELL for you~ burn on~

    hehe
