alright well I've installed one into my ps2 without a problem and now i'm installing one into my friends ps2 but I've having troubles for some reason, I don't have the dc-connecter to use the check light so...I hooked everything up fine but when I turn on the ps2 it doesn't go to the normal ps2 screen it just sits there and I cannot get the cd tray to open, and there's not a light on the eject button but there is one on the reset button so I don't know what to do anyone have any ideas?

sounds like an eject tray cable problem. I would suggest changing the eject cable and see how you go from there.
