    Hello,

I received a Trutech TT1620 DVD Recorder& Player for Christmas. The system replaced my standard DVD player which was hooked up to my Direct TV DVR Recorder& Player. I also have a VCR hooked up to the DVR as well via a switch box so that I can use either equiptment. I have been recording TV programs to my VCR until I got this new unit.

The Trutech was hooked into the DVR in the same place as the original DVD Player. I have since tried to record to the DVD recorder and the system will not recognize the DVD's once it has formatted them. I have not finalized the disc for I know that that means I can not write anything further to it. I am using DVD+R dvd's

I have of course tried to contact Trutech about this and of course I have been on hold or noone has called me back.

The system is hooked up correctly. The person who hooked it up is a computer network engineer, and at the present time is not readily available to take a look at this problem.

Any thoughts on this problem, or do you think the unit is defective (and by the way, the person who bought the unit as a gift can't find the receipt--naturally).

Thanks for any input you can give.

I'm have had the same problem with the same unit. However, now it seems to go ahead and record a particular program (originally saved on Tivo) but upon pressing "Stop", the unit displays a "bad data" message. Once that happens, the unit will not proceed on to any other action including being able to finalize the recorded program for viewing.

All connections seem fine, have tried altering the setup, but the same results occur. Am using S-Video to the TruTech DVD burner. Everything works perfectly EXCEPT being able to burn a DVD+R disc to completion. By the way, DVD+RW works just fine.

    Any clues, or suggestions?
    Advise?

I can return the unit to Target within the 90-day period for a full refund. If anyone has a Xmas gift, I'd still try to return the unit even without a receipt "as a Xmas gift". Many merchants will honor the return.

Sounds familiar, unfortunately. I bought a TruTech TT1620 (TT 1620) at Target, and while I didn't expect a lot for $88, I did expect it to do what it said it would. It doesn't recognize DVD+RW blanks. I've tried Maxell, Memorex, Imation, Fujifilm and a couple of others. Nothing but the "no disc" message. To make matters worse, the setup was confusing, and the remote is TINY -- slightly larger than a baseball card, with about 50 buttons -- nearly impossible to read and use. And there's apparently NO ONLINE SUPPORT, either. This one's going back to the store. It's a load of CRAP.

have you checked to see if DMA is turned on?
plus check to see if firmware is up to date?
    just a couple of thoughts
