Hi sorry if this has been answered before. I have a Sony DVD burner and it worked just fine last week but now all of a sudden I keep getting illegal disc errors and I can't burn any dvd's. I am not doing anything complicated I am just trying to make some data dvd's to clean up my hard drive. I am using Maxell DVD-R's I purchased from Walmart. I am using Nero Burning Rom 6 SE. Here is what the log file generated by nero says. Not surprising that you're having issues. I've heard from many people that bought this drive, paying good money for the Sony name (even though this is just a rebaged Liteon), only to have it give up the ghost and either decide to not recognize any recordable media, or fail to burn properly. I have a sneaking suspicion that this may be your problem.
Hi there, 1- Yep, upgrade that firmware ! 2- Try to burn one at x2.0 or x4.0 3- If it's a Video DVD, don't forget to Finalize it, on your posted log, Finalised CD = FALSE !
