is there a quick easy way to convert an mkv file to avi.im asking cause my dvd player will play divx files but not mkv.im currently encoding using avidemux but not sure if its gonna work or not. it just finished encoding and it will run on windows media player.sounds works on my dvd player but says video resolution not supported.
Standalone players usually require the resolution to be a maximum of 720x576. Instead of AviDemux, you might try StaxRip. Under 'Project', select the XviD template then on the main page, set the size (at or less than 720x576). My standalone does not like VBR audio, so you might have to edit the audio to set it CBR.
VBR audio works fine on my dvd player.probably was the resolution setting.will have a look if theres a guide to using avidemux in the guides section.i hope i can do all i need without downloading another program.
I'm running into the same issue here, only my DVD player doesn't recognize XviD AVIs, only DivX AVIs. Why would I want to encode them to XviD if that were the case?
