my mission: i'm trying to download a youtube video, so i can edit the video in vegas platinum studio version 7. it is critical that i can edit the video. i'm replacing the audio from a big name band with my own cover version of the song, and i'm turning the video into a black and white video and putting some words over it, explaining that the music was made by me. my problem: i downloaded a video from youtube as both an AVI and an FLV. i can see the avi in the vegas explorer, but when i drag it into the edit window, it only shows the audio. the avi was about 5 megs. was it because it was compressed? like an mp4 avi? can a file be both avi and mp4 at the same time? can i decompress it? or better yet, how can i avoid all of this and get a video without worrying about the converting it so much? all the other files in my vegas that are readable are avi files? so i'm guessing there is something about the conversion that's messing it up? thank you in advance... next
